Shroud Me Project

The Eco Coffin Project is an annual program presented by death literacy educator Dr Abby Buckley, culminating in a SALA group exhibition featuring handmade, environmentally-friendly body disposition items. I’m proud to be part of the 2025 exhibition, with a work called SHROUD ME.

This ‘interactive’ piece invites people to get up close and cosy with a real-life shroud. It’s beginning its life plain and unadorned, with the intention of annotating it with cool information about shrouds and body disposition options.

I’m excited to announce this shroud marks the beginning of my new program, Becoming Death Comfortable. As a ‘death nerd’, I’m here to make death literacy fun and empowering. There are exciting things in the works.

Meanwhile, please enjoy my deddybones cosplay during Eco Coffin Project class of 2025

This shrouding demonstration is presented by the lovely Funeral Directors from Taylor & Forgie, Gawler SA.
Fun fact: they’re grandfather and granddaughter!

Meaningful Lives acknowledges the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains as the traditional custodians of the land on which this practice is based. Appreciation and respect is extended to their Elders – past, present and emerging. Their cultural heritage, beliefs, and relationship with the land are of continuing importance to the Kaurna people living today. This respect is extended to other Aboriginal Language Groups and other First Nations throughout the lands.
